Congressman Ron Paul 2008

Its not secret that I don't trust government..,ANY government. No I am not paranoid. No, I am not a Conspiracist. The Founding Fathers of this great land were very educated and wise. They studied and understood why the City States of Ancient Greece failed. They understood why the Roman Empire crumbled. THEY did not trust government and did not intend for us to trust government either. That is why they intentionally formed a very weak government. The strongest body of the government is Congress which has to come back and report to us.

Somewhere along the line, people became complacent. They started to depend on the government as a Patriarchal figure providing for their needs. The more government gives us, the more they control us. Every single time a law passes, we give up rights that we previously had. Now I am not an anarchist. I believe some laws are good like those against murder, rape, torture, theft, etc, where there are victims. I also support laws that protect children such as seatbelt laws for minors who are at the mercy of a sometimes irresponsible adult. I support laws that create a more orderly social order such as traffic laws.

I do not support how incredibly large and encumbersome our government has become. I do not support laws that protect adults from themselves.

I find candidate Ron Paul to be a very interesting candidate. Though Ron Paul is a very religious man and does not personally believe in abortion, he also believes that due to the 10th Amendment, it should be up to the individual states to decide. (Gotta love a person wise enough not to want to force his morality on other people)

  2. It's such a shame that I am completely dreading this upcoming election. I'm not a fan of any of the "mainstream" political candidates, although it seems that the GOP will produce Giuliani as a candidate, putting a temporary hold on their torrid affair with neo-cons and extreme right-wingers. So I guess that is good news. I'll probably vote liberal-libertarian or Green.
